Genesis 48:1-2, “Now it came about after these things that Joseph was told, “Behold, your father is sick.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him. When it was told to Jacob, “Behold, your son Joseph has come to you,” Israel collected his strength and sat up in the bed.”
Taking a look at these two verses of scripture from a prophetic perspective we see the flesh man Jacob hearing the news that his son Joseph with his two sons had come to see him; Israel, the changed by the Spirit of YHVH man, strengthened himself; Jacob heard, but it was Israel, the promise, the changed man, that welcomed him and interacted with him. Israel is strengthened when Joseph and his offspring come home!
2 Samuel 10:12, “Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the LORD do what is good in His sight.” This is how we overcome; be strong and courageous; and how do we do this, but by following the admonition given to Joshua in Joshua 1:7-8, “Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.
Yashua said in Mat 5:27-28, “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’;
but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. The story of King David’s fall into this sin is found in 2 Samuel 11:2, “Now when evening came David arose from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king’s house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance.” A look led to lust which cascaded to adultery, deception and finally murder. Sin always carries consequences; YHVH rebuked David through Nathan the prophet and the child born of this adulterous act died. Guard your eye-gate; the enemy of the brethren is constantly seeking a way to ensnare you in his web.
Luke 6:12, “It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.” It was after this that Yashua chose his 12 disciples. When confronted with the need to make an important decision it might be a good idea to follow Yashua’s example and spend the night in prayer!
Another benefit from Yashua’s night spent in prayer: Luke 6:17-19, “Yashua came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd… who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured. And all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all.”
