A Thought for Your Day

YHVH has set apart a people for Himself. He has taken great care to enter into covenant with them, to lead them, feed them, deliver them from their enemies; and in return He has asked them to: Exodus 34:12, “Watch yourself that you make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a snare in your midst.”

As we accept the free gift of salvation made available to us by the death and resurrection of our Savior, Yashua, we become grafted-in to the ‘natural olive tree’ joining His set apart ones in receiving the rich, life-sustaining nourishment of the root of that olive tree. Romans 11:17-18, “But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.”

As ‘grafted in to the olive tree’ believers, the same instructions and warnings given to YHVH’s set apart ones of Exodus 34, now apply to us as well; “Watch yourself so that you may avoid the snares of the land you are going in to possess.” The Israelites were told by YHVH to, (verse 13) “tear down their altars and smash their sacred pillars and cut down their Asherim.” These would be snares to the children of Israel and YHVH told them to get rid of the snares so they wouldn’t be attracted to them. In Revelation 18:4-5, we read, I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” Here again YHVH is telling us to remove ourselves from the snares that tempt, catch and entangle us. It is YHVH’s will for us to be victorious, overcomers as described in Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Yashua, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of YHVH.”

To come out of something is to do the opposite. Whatever the people of the land are doing you do the opposite; if they are bowing down to idols and sacrificing to them you bow down to YHVH and make sacrifice to Him. And what is an acceptable sacrifice, but a broken and contrite heart, that, He will not despise. YHVH gave us feasts to observe, but the people of the land say we have our own holidays with our own traditions. YHVH says to work six days and rest on the seventh; the people of the land say, if you want to be productive you better not rest, or we prefer to rest on this day. And on and on the comparisons can go…

There are three scenarios that are being played out on the world stage: 1.) choose YHVH and follow Him, 2.) choose hasatan, the devil, and follow him, and 3.) the undecided, those that lean one way and then the other; the ones that sit on the fence, the luke-warm ones. These three scenarios are rapidly being narrowed down to two; chose YHVH or chose hasatan. Revelation 3:15-16, ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” If we don’t want to be spit out of YHVH’s mouth then let us heed the admonition of Joshua to the children of Israel:
Joshua 24:22-24, Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen for yourselves YHVH, to serve Him.” And they said, “We are witnesses.” “Now therefore, put away the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to YHVH, the God of Israel.” The people said to Joshua, “We will serve YHVH our God and we will obey His voice.” May this be your choice and that you not allow yourself to become ensnared in the cares and temptations of the world and turn away from YHVH.
