Even when we receive the Word of YHVH, because of the oppression of the present reality, we do not believe. Moses went to Pharaoh and spoke the words of YHVH, “Let My people go…”, but Pharaoh responded by increasing Israel’s labor. Now the people are resenting Moses and Moses in turn is questioning YHVH. Exodus 5:22-23, Then Moses returned to the LORD and said, “O Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me? “Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done harm to this people, and You have not delivered Your people at all.”
Exodus 6:7-9, “Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the LORD. So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage.”
Moses had gone to Pharaoh and made a request; Pharaoh had responded to that request by increasing Israel’s labor to the point of cruel oppression. Exodus 6:10-13, Now YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the sons of Israel go out of his land.” But Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, “Behold, the sons of Israel have not listened to me; how then will Pharaoh listen to me, for I am unskilled in speech?” Then the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a charge to the sons of Israel and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
Now YHVH was giving Moses a “charge”. Is there a difference between making a request and receiving a charge? The word “charge” from Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Definitions is to command, charge, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, order. It is like YHVH is telling Moses, “So much for the easy way, now Pharaoh and all Egypt will experience My Power!”
Has YHVH given you a charge? Then don’t treat His charge like a request! Matthew 28:18-20, And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Psalm 96:10-13, Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns; indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity.” Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; Let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD, for He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in His faithfulness.
Luke 12:35-36, “Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit. “Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. Verse 40 “You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.” Verse 43 “Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.”
